On Saturday May 10th at 8pm The Legacy of Bach, An Evening of Masterworks is the first concert of 2008 of The Piano, King of Instruments Series in the in the Weisberg Hall in the Doctorow Center for the Arts on Main Street in Hunter, New York. The event is presented by the Catskill Mountain Foundation with a grant from the Doctorow Family Foundation.

The popular series Piano, King of Instruments is now in its sixth year of presenting different composers and varied keyboards instruments with guest artists such as flutists, violinists and cellists. The centerpiece is always the piano. However, the concert on Saturday May 10th gives center stage to the piano’s predecessor, the harpsichord as well as the piano.

The performers are William Carragan, harpsichord; Elena Winther, piano and
Vladimir Pleshakov, piano. The first part of the program consists of works for harpsichord played by William Carragan

Saturday, May 10th 2008 8pm Bach: Two Profiles

Featuring Vladimir Pleshakov and Elena WInther, pianists and William Carragan, harpsichordist. Carragan will play Bach's Fourth Partitia on the instrument for which it was written - the harpsichord. In total contrast, Pleshakov and Winther will play on the modern piano transcriptions of Bach's major works by Lizst, Busoni, Rachmaninoff and Max Reger's transciption for two pianos of one of Bach's Brandenberg Concerti.

 Saturday, July 5th 2008 8pm Chopin-Poet of the Human Soul

Major works of the legendary piano composer on pianos from his time and from our time. Performed by Vladimir Pleshakov and Elena Winther on different pianos from the collection of the Pleshakov Piano Museum.

 Saturday August 9 2008 8pm Russian Musical Treasures
Works by Rachmaninoff, Metner, Scriabin, Prokofiev, Stravinsky and Balakirev played by Vladimir Pleshakov and Elena Winther on pianos from the Pleshakov Piano Museum.
